Dr. Dorris grew up in a small town in East Tennessee.  He received his undergraduate degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN.  He then took a year off of school and worked with a dentist in Knoxville before heading to west Tennessee for dental school.  He studied hard at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, TN and graduated near the top of his class.  

He then moved with his wife, three cats, and a turtle to Iowa City, IA to study oral and maxillofacial radiology at the University of Iowa.  During his time in Iowa, he also received a master's degree in Oral Science.  He has built a wonderful and supportive community here in Iowa.  Upon graduation, he accepted an offer to teach at the University of Iowa part time as an assistant professor.

Outside of work, Dr. Dorris is dedicated to his favorite sports teams - Memphis Grizzlies, UTK sports (literally all of them), Tennessee Titans, Iowa Heartlanders, and so many more.  He also loves going outside no matter the weather or the number of gnats in the air.  When forced to stay indoors he enjoys reading books, watching movies, drinking coffee, and spending time with his wife and pets.
